CRAZY 55 RACE:

Hit the streets! Turn Grunn upside down! Crazy 55 is a city-wide scavenger hunt that takes you past all the GSb’s iconic locations and activities! From ‘t Peerd van Ome Loeks to d’Olle Grieze. Form a team and complete as many challenges as possible. Of course, you’ll be equipped with a survival kit and plenty of snacks. Will you be the first to cross the finish line and score the most points? If so, you’ll win a beautiful GSb trophy and become an honorary member of the lustrum for the rest of the week!

The Friends of the GSb are back! And how! We’re officially kicking off our anniversary week with an alumni get-together in the former chemistry building at the University of Groningen. We’ll start with a welcome speech from some key GSb members. Then we’ll battle it out in the Forever Young pub quiz. With rounds covering topics such as Groningen, the student movement, politics, music, and history, the big question is: Who is the real expert? Will that honor still go to the old guard? Or will the new guard take over the baton?

Get into that true Anne-Fleur vacation vibe and then join the flunky ball tournament (non-alcoholic options available). Throw that ball and sprint across the grass of the Noorderplantsoen. May the greatest player win!

In the southern part of the city, you’ll find the Old Roman Catholic Hospital (ORKZ). In 1979, this beautiful building stood empty, and the city even made plans to demolish it! Thanks to the Groningen Squatters’ Organization (KOG) and the GSb, the building was squatted and thus saved from demolition. This made it the largest squat in the Netherlands. It has now been around for nearly 50 years and is still home to a vibrant alternative community. You’ll also find a real cult bar, concert hall, and movie theater there. Join us here to enjoy the film, which will be announced soon!

Back by popular demand! And let’s be honest, what could be more student-like than a cantus? For those in the dark: at a cantus, you sing your heart out under the watchful eye of a presidium. Meanwhile, you enjoy a beer (non-alcoholic options are also available!). Make a mistake? Watch out! You’ll have to face the disciplinary committee. This time, the evening in honor of the dies natalis is all about the 1970s: the era of hippies and disco divas! Let your wild hair fly and crank up ABBA to volume 10!

When you’re sitting in the sun with your comrades, that’s when you’ll truly feel alive. Take off your shoes, touch the grass, and have another helping of tabbouleh. Couldn’t be better!
