You can gain a lot of knowledge and also support many students in Groningen. You will have the opportunity to work within a team of enthusiastic students from different studies. Shape Student Life, Lead Change, and Make an Impact! Join the Groninger Student Union Board 2025-2026!

The Groninger Student Union (GSb) is recruiting 5-6 passionate students for next year’s board! Whether you’re a Dutch or international student, this is your chance to advocate for student rights, organize events, and influence policies at local and national levels. 

Requirements:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Initiative, adaptability, and a proactive mindset.
  • Interest in student advocacy, education, housing, or politics.
  • Availability for ~20 hours/week (flexible scheduling).

Role-specific qualities:

  • Chairperson: Confidence in public speaking and leadership.
  • Secretary: Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Treasurer: Financial management interest (training provided).
  • Commissioner of Relations: Social skills and event coordination.
  • Commissioner of PR: Creativity in marketing and social media.

GSb’s Action Team is a group of students dedicated to on the ground, real activism. We are engaged in creating ideas to fight for student-related issues. Apart from developing close relationships within the activist community and creating change in Groningen, you will also be involved with the LSVb’s (national student union) actions.

What you can expect:

  • Protests
  • Weekly or bi-weekly meetings
  • Concrete change!

The Nait Soez’n is the independent opinion magazine of the Groningen Student Union. The editorial team consists of ten members from different corners of the student community, who write an article for the physical editions of the Nait Soez’n twice a year. The editorial team meets sporadically to discuss articles and other matters in an accessible and friendly way. For now, Nait Soez’n is only availably in Dutch. Hopefully in the future we can offer an English translation online! Stay tuned!

You may have noticed it already, but next year marks the 55th year of the Groninger Student Union! GSb was officially established on July 1st 1971. This means it is time to start preparing for the celebrations of lustrum XI! There are already great things being planned to celebrate both our rich history and our current achievements. Such as the publication of a whole book, covering the first decade of our existence in all its chaos and glory.
